Technology:
At technology this term we did woodwork, and we made boxes. We needed to pick the size, then we followed the steps Mr. Therston gave us to complete our boxes. In the end my box had a purple top and on the top it said ‘Silly Monkiez’I enjoyed wood work this term.
I got picked for the extension where we went down for an extra day to make shorts in the sewing room, my shorts were purple and green and the look cool. I really enjoyed the extension.
Ecological buildings:
This term for topic we did ecological buildings. I partners we had to pick a place in our school to make eco friendly, Georgia and I picked the pool because we thought it wasn’t very ecological. We had to research lighting, water and our questions which were How can we make the pool eco friendly?, How can we heat the pool ecologically? and What cover can we use to keep the heat in? After we had finished our keynote and had practiced we had to present it to the class. I enjoyed doing our inquiry on the pool because I felt like what we were doing could actually happen.
Add/sub:
For addition and subtraction we learnt different strategies like partitioning and using a number line. I liked using partitioning because I really understood how to do it and I can use it for big numbers that I used to have difficulty answering.
Cross country:
For the school cross country we went to the Barton’s Farm out by the train station. When we got there we had to walk the course, it was really hilly. Our race was pretty hard but we got through it and I came seventh, so I had to go through to inter-school.
At inter-school it was pretty fun even though we had to wait for ages.
In our race I came a bad 32 out of 36.
Descriptive writing (Autumn Poem):
For our Autumn poem we had to write a descriptive poem about autumn. We went outside and looked at the leaves and trees, then we wrote our poem. We had to include similes, metaphors and hyperboles. I thought mine was pretty good.
Te Reo:
This term we practiced the basics of Te Reo like numbers, days of the week and months of the year. I didn’t know the months so it’s cool that I have learnt them.
Fitness:
For fitness we got put in to five groups. Then Ms Fryer gave us something to do like sprinting, hopping or something like that. It was fun because it was making excise fun.
Performing Arts -Drama/Garageband:
We did drama with Ms Fryer. We got put into groups and got given a fairy tale that we had to practice acting out, my group had Cinderella. After the first practice Ms Fryer said we were losing one of our characters and getting another character from other fairy, my group lost Cinderella and got Little Red Riding hood it was really funny. Now we are doing music with Mrs Southey we have to compose a song on garage band so far it’s been really fun.
Speeches:
This term we did speeches and I did mine on “how to be the perfect wife?” It was scary presenting it to the class.
Science Fair:
Doing the science fair was really fun. I did mine on which material burns the fastest. I got a score of 38 out of 70.........
Reading:
At the beginning of the term we read an online story and it was called Cody’s unexpected catch. It was pretty cool but I like reading proper books better than reading off the internet.
Spelling:
This term we refreshed our brains and did plurals, apostrophes and similes. It was pretty boring...
